Quickstart

This tutorial takes you from no account to your first transcribed and tagged Session item. You’ll do four things: sign up, open a Session, upload a WAV, and add a Property. No prior VoiceQC knowledge needed.

An email you can read right now

Sign-up uses a one-time passcode sent to your email. The code expires after a few minutes.

A short WAV file

Any WAV. A 5–30 second clip transcribes quickly and is enough to see the full flow. If you don’t have one, grab any voice-over WAV from a project you’re working on.

  1. Visit voiceqc.com and click Sign Up in the top nav.

  2. Enter your email and a password, then click Continue.

  3. Open the email VoiceQC just sent you and copy the one-time passcode. Paste it back into the sign-up form and click Continue.

  4. Optional: when prompted Keep me signed in?, choose Yes if this is your own machine. Otherwise choose No.

You land on the Session page. The top nav shows Session, Logs, and Usage links — that’s how you know you’re signed in.

  1. On the Session page, find the upload area in the middle of the screen.

  2. Drag a WAV file from your file manager onto the drop zone, or click the drop zone and pick a file. Only .wav files are accepted today — other formats are silently filtered out (no rejection message; the file just doesn’t appear in the Session items table).

  3. As soon as the file is selected, VoiceQC starts uploading. The progress indicator changes from Progress: 0/0 to show your file in the Session items table.

You don’t need to refresh. The browser holds an open connection to VoiceQC and gets a push the moment each item’s transcription is ready.

  1. Wait. A short clip is usually transcribed within a few seconds; longer files take proportionally longer.

  2. When transcription completes for an item, its row in the Session items table fills in with the transcribed text.

If you’d like to understand what’s happening between upload and the text appearing, see How transcription works.

A Property is a piece of metadata you attach to a Session item — for example, Status / Approved. Properties are structured as a Name / Value pair. The first Property you create starts your Property library, the set of Name/Value choices everyone on your account reuses when tagging.

  1. In the Session items table, find the row for your transcribed file.

  2. In the Actions column, click + Property.

  3. The Property editor opens. Since this is your first Property, the editor shows empty fields. Fill in:

    • Name — for example, Status
    • Value — for example, Approved
  4. Click Create. The Property library is updated and the editor switches to a dropdown view with your new Name and Value pre-selected.

  5. Click Save to assign the Property to this Session item.

A colored chip appears on the row showing your Property. You can click the × on the chip to remove it, or expand the row (click the chevron) to add more Properties.

  • Signed up by verifying your email with a one-time passcode.
  • Uploaded a WAV file and let VoiceQC transcribe it.
  • Watched the transcription appear automatically — no polling, no refresh.
  • Started your Property library by creating your first Name/Value pair, and applied it as a tag.
